interpals

It's that time again for hope to spring eternal and a new attempt at communicating through words and finding friends (and the one, naturally) so here is the latest and greatest and most recent and most whatever profile uploaded to the web. It is on a pen-pal site called interpals (no relation to Interpol... I think) and I think this links to my profile. Below is what is in my profile. As usual, feel free to correct grammatical errors, critique, and otherwise improve my attempt to express who I am and introduce myself to the world.

Thank you for clicking on "About Me"

I signed up impulsively. I am not sure I will correspond on a regular basis. I doubt I will respond immediately because life is not that structured these days. Writing is one of my ways of processing life. The written me can be very different than the off-page me as I dump all the negativity, complaining, whining, unpleasantness (and typos) into words and then laugh at myself (and the challenges of life) and then I move along to the next moment. Sometimes the words are distractions (recently, a lot) and sometimes I feel like a genius (that passes quickly upon self-mockery and further reflection). Sometimes prose, sometimes rhymes, mostly I let words flow as an extension of my thought process.

I am not sure what I am looking for here. The bottom line desire in me is honesty - being as real, sincere, and present as possible is what I seek from myself. Anything else is even more fleeting than life itself and often meaningless. I rarely sense a real sincere presence from people, at least not one they want to share.

The saddest aspect of this life is that honest love seems too vulnerable for people to share, but it is my quest (Don Quixote and me - and I laugh even as I am at my most serious on this point). Friends tell me they admire that even as they tell me I am not being realistic. I smile and continue. Being true to honest love and myself is always the greatest personal joy in this life. :)

I find explaining the words "honest love" helps not only introduce me, but helps clarify communication, especially in written words. I use the term to express the innocent, genuine, unencumbered, and unconditional love that I want to send out to the universe. It is not meant to suggest anything more, not sensual, romantic, nor any sort of request. Just a wish to feel safe, secure, cared for, and happy. It is honesty without harm, caring without expectation, love without obligation, and a moment of serenity. My intention is to care and inspire a genuine smile.

Mostly, in recent times, life has been full of frivolous fun and that is, well, fun, but I do seeks a sense of deeper meaning, more personalized caring, more purposeful sharing. I do not seek it with all my heart/mind the way I used to (ah, scars and waning hope are rational reasons, but mostly I don't think about it for the moment).

It is just as likely that I sit here watching the world go round and round because I have no income and savings dwindles. I am staying with a generous friend and have contemplated living in my car - a bohemian lifestyle I have enjoyed in the past when it was my choice to travel and explore. I have been alive for 60 years (still a child inside though) and much of this life was what our culture would call success and luxury and some of it was what our culture would call failure and poverty. My perspective is not based on the material world as what matters to me is what is inside people (and other living beings).

What matters most to me (is an ever changing carousel with honest love at it's core), overall, is caring and nurturing friends and trying to live life and share each moment as positively as possible.

At the moment my priority is finding income so I can return the gifts friends have given me and regain more independent options. Each day I send out resumes and enjoy the free time because "free time" is the greatest luxury I have experienced in this life.

I have known immense euphoric joy and times of overwhelming traumatic pain in my time on this planet and it is, as the seasonal film suggests, a wonderful life. I hope to share more honest love and fun adventures with friends. I treasure the few true friends I know and hope to find a few more along the way. If I find a few people who understand me, all the more wonderful it will be.

There is a bit of an introduction (too much for a profile?... well, it may keep the superficial and the phishers away... or not... rhetoric questions amuse me {as does pushing the limits of language rules}. As do parenthetic asides. I enjoy babbling in written words, so considered yourself warned - or tempted if you enjoy babble). :)

I hope your day smiling more than frowning and your life is as joyous as you want it to be. If it isn't, I hope you do something - life is change and you have the power to change yours. Do something that inspires your smile. :)

I leave these words here with no expectations. May they send you my wish for personal peace, honest love, a sense of security, and radiant happiness.

honest love,
ric

Resume #(lost count)

Yes, a resume can provide much real-world information into who I am, especially when throughout my career I have usually spent my time working at jobs that focused on things I love to do - combining my love of helping people with my love of numbers and spreadsheets and problem solving. I have many resumes as I modify them for each job I apply for and in recent years I have applied for many jobs. This particular resume focuses on management, even more specifically Program Management. Copying it from the word document, it loses it's pretty formatting here in this box, but the information remains. Feel free to pass along the link or to share any job leads at the address listed. Thank you - and thanks for wanting to know me (that is what this blog is about, after all) :)

Messages to Potential Roommates

The following are messages I sent to prospective roommates on a roommate site. While these messages are mostly repetitive and may offer less insight or information about me than some of the personal profiles or other messages do, this does sort of fit the theme of this blog so here they are, for history, for posterity, for the library if ever my writings become one beyond these blogs. Ah, such lofty dreams for my feeble words. But we must nurture our dreams, not matter what they are. These days I am dreaming of finding a job (I suppose posting my resume here would be fitting) and a place to live that I can afford. A roommate would help. A really wealthy and generous roommate who wishes to become a patron of my arts (whatever they are) would be ideal. What was that about dreams? lol lam. Oh, well, let's be serious for a moment and see how I introduced myself to strangers with the hope of finding one who might want to live with my unique madness. :)

Hi Tony :)

I believe in honesty. I am male, so if that is a complete deal-breaker I understand. I write to you in case you've found no one to rent your room and might consider a nice reliable active older guy after meeting and seeing who I am. Never know where a new friend might be found. :)

I am quiet, rarely have people over, and respectful of boundaries. I write a lot, watch some TV, love music, and keep the volume low or use headphones. I prefer to be friendly and social however can respect roommates if they'd rather not share a whole lot beyond polite space.

I am very flexible and easy to get along with. I play softball Monday and Friday evenings as well as most of the day Sundays so I am not around those times. I play cards Tuesday, Thursday, and often on Saturdays so I am out those evenings as well most weeks.

I enjoy giving time and energy to helping others both professionally and personally. My career has been in health care administration. I am clean and if cleaning up behind you will lower the rent, I'm all for it.

At the moment I am job hunting and while I have savings, I am paying off a car and want to keep rent down as low as possible. I am very reliable and can front you a few months in advance. I can provide personal references from a prior roommate (or other friends) who shared space for many years. We no longer live together because she fell in love and moved in to start a new life. She is a therapist and professional working at Stetson. Maybe you can tell I am proud of her life :)

As I said, I believe in honesty. I believe hiding or pretending is a waste of time. Doing no harm in this life is my fundamental philosophy and I strive to achieve in in all I do. If you are still reading, ask me anything.

I hope you find the right roommate if I am not that person. I welcome a text or call if you like what you read and want to get to know me.

Thank you and make today/tonight a good one. :)

Hi Jeremy and Jesse :)

I believe in honesty and I am definitely trustworthy, clean and outgoing. I am a lot older so that may rule me out, but I write to you in case 12/1/2016 comes up and you've found no one to rent your room - or perhaps you want to lock in the right person as soon as possible and we fit in spite of my age. If age is a deal-breaker, just say so and I wish you well.

Sundays I play and help organize the LGBT league at Seminole Softball Complex and this weekend, unless cancelled by the hurricane, I will be organizing 49 Angels for the Pride parade. Hi Groovenectar (like the name) :)

I too am looking for a place. I'll need it Nov 1. I believe in honesty. I am quiet, rarely have people over, and respectful of boundaries. I prefer to be friendly and social however can respect roommates if they'd rather not share a whole lot beyond polite space. I am very flexible and easy to get along with. I enjoy TV and relaxing as well.

Sundays I play and help organize a league at Seminole Softball Complex and this weekend, unless cancelled by the hurricane, I will be organizing 49 Angels for the Pride parade as I have been involved in providing support for those affected by the tragic shooting. I enjoy giving time and energy to helping others both professionally and personally. My career has been in health care administration.

Hi :)

I too am looking for a place. I am curious to know if you found anything in the $200-$300 range as that would be what I need at the moment too. I'd be willing to share a room with a compatible person.

Please let me know and good luck with your search. I'll let you know if I find anything in that range as well.

Thanks and hope your day. night is smiling :)

Hi :)

I am 60, male, and also am looking for a place with as low rent as possible. I am looking in areas north of Orlando like Altamonte, Longwood, Apopka, Lake Mary, etc. I am curious to know if you found anything in the $200-$300 range as that would be what I need at the moment too.

As this point I'd be willing to share a room with a compatible person and see how that works out. I am quiet, out a lot, and easy to get along with.

Please let me know and good luck with your search. I'll let you know if I find anything in that range as well.

Thanks and hope your day. night is smiling :)

Hi Meg :)

Wow, I love your positivity. Thanks for inspiring my smile. I am also am looking for a place with as low rent as possible. I am looking in areas north of Orlando like Altamonte, Longwood, Apopka, Lake Mary, etc. I'd consider other areas as well. I am curious to know if you found anything in the $400 or less range as that would be what I need at the moment too.

I've had a challenging year and at this point I'd be willing to share a room with a compatible person and see how that works out. I am quiet, out a lot, and easy to get along with.

I am older and looking too, so I am not what you are looking for but please let me know if you find anything and good luck with your search. Networking is supposed to work, right? :)

If you like, I'll let you know if I find anything in that range as well.

Thanks and hope your day. night is smiling :)

Hi :)

If the rent is $85 a month in exchange for chores, I am very interested. I can give you the $100 deposit and 3 months in advance if you like. I love animals, especially cats, and I care for friends animals while they are away. I would like to find out more about what you are seeking. Ask me anything you'd like to know, I believe in honesty.

My name is Ric. I am 60 and semi-retired but looking for a job as I enjoy working. My career has been in health care administration which is a 24/7/365 responsibility and after decades of that, I am seeking something less stressful with what we might call "normal" hours. :)

I am quiet, rarely have friends over, and respectful of boundaries. I write a lot, watch some TV, love music, and keep the volume low or use headphones. I can be a friend or I can be virtually invisible and relax in my room when I am home. :)

I am very flexible and easy to get along with. I play softball Monday and Friday evenings as well as most of the day Sundays so I am not around those times. I play cards at friends houses some nights. I am also involved in some community support activities around Orlando as my passion in life and work is to help people whenever I can.

Feel free to email, text, or call.

Meetmindful Profile

This is part of a profile I impulsively threw together at MeetMindful.com and I forgot to upload it here at the time so I do not recall the path(s) that lead me to that site. I am not sure what you will find if you click on my profile link without signing up, but I can view profiles for free. The cost of this site is not worth the potential I've seen in the profiles available to explore, but then, you probably know by now that I have an aversion to paying for meeting friends as most of those endeavors are futile and many are scams. Still, here is another view of me (and that is what this blog is about, right?) :)

In my own words...
I am not like anyone I've ever met, but then, who is? I have wandered from myself to try to meet people, but always seem to return alone. If you think someone can be too honest, continue on your journey. What makes me happiest is loving, caring, giving, helping, and sharing. It has left me rich inside and without much in this material world, but I love myself and continue the cycle. I've seldom lived alone because I enjoy living with a best friend or partner. I know we are all alone, yet I still seek the shared illusion of being one with another. The answers to the questions to the left are somewhat deceiving as multiple choices usually are (For example, I will try anything, but maintain a healthy balance). Ask for clarification and what you want to know. Google me. :)

In my free time you'll find me...
Playing softball, cards, games, and music. Writing, reading, and playing with numbers. I love to explore and I am open to exploring anywhere or anything that causes no harm.

I'm most passionate about...
Honesty, kindness, love, friends, helping. Babbling through written words, music, softball, dreaming of a better world and finding someone who might inspire me to fall in love again while still understanding influences from Harry Chapin, John Lennon, The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Melissa Etheridge, Monty Python, Robin Williams, and George Carlin.

Imperfections I'm embracing or changing...
There are no perfect people, only perfect intentions. I strive for perfect intentions and that keeps me secure and happy. A love of tastes (and taking a year off from the working world) has added thirty pounds in spite of playing ball four or five days a week and that's got to go. Meet me on an elliptical machine. The world has depressed my infinite hope and optimism lately and I wonder about the chances for humanity to survive it's prolonged infancy, but deep inside I know I shall survive anything and I doubt I am the only one. My occasional vow of poverty is less fun than it used to be, so I'll be looking for income again come the Fall. I may forget much of what I wrote in this profile tomorrow and would love to be reminded. I will not give up my irreverent self-mockery even if it is an imperfection. :)

Not for me...
(among Mindful "button" choices): Religious, Drug Use, Tobacco, Conservatives, Cat Haters, Hookups, Long-distance, Polyamory

Organized religion substitutes for personal accountability and may be a dangerous, harmful delusion. Most drugs, meh. Tobacco stinks. Conservatives don't conserve and fear change. Life is change. Cats are cool. I prefer in person, 1 on 1 relationships.

I'd also like to explore...
The potential of meeting someone who might share a similar perspective and understanding of being in this life excites me. Also, finding friends who love sharing the written word. Ric Held and Bugs Webbot are FB names you can find. Hope you reach out. :)
